Primerry is passionate about fostering creativity in children and believe that all children are deserving of a quality art experience even around the kitchen table.
Teaching art to children was something I fell into. Anyone who knew me as a child wouldn't be surprised that I ended up not just teaching art to children in my adopted hometown of Goleta, California but to children all around the world.
But long before there was Deep Space Sparkle and Primerry, there was a strong connection to color, lines and the magic of making something from inside my head live on a piece of paper.
If I'm still enough, I can recollect how drawing and painting made me feel as a little girl: confident, calm, empowered and the most of all, myself.
And that's exactly how I want children to feel when creating art.
I've been teaching art to children for the better part of 20 years. I started as an art volunteer in my children's school and evolved into being an art teacher for 3 schools. I had never experienced a job that felt more aligned with what I loved most.
Teaching is truly a dream job.
I went on to start Deep Space Sparkle, which has evolved into an educational resource for teachers and parents all over the world and most recently, Primerry.
When the pandemic happened, I found myself alone in my downtown headquarters. My Deep Space Sparkle team had returned home to work remotely.
Something special happens when you find a quiet space with little distractions: you create art!
I started a free daily art series with kids who were suddenly at home with little to do. Truth was, I hadn't taught classes or been with children since I retired from teaching and going live on Facebook and Instagram was a selfish excuse to engage with the kids.
The joy it created with families all over the world was really something special. I loved teaching and it felt like I tapped into the WHY of everything I do.
A few months later, Primerry was an official membership with 8 art episodes and the commitment to providing a new art episode each week.
I’m so proud of our Primerry Family and the kids who tune in each week to draw and paint a new work of art. And I invite you to join us, too.
Our membership is simple: we provide the instruction, you provide the space and materials.
Together, we can bring a quality art experience to our children so that they may find confidence, creativity, calm, and empowerment through art-making.
